Over 15 Years Equipping Dreams in the Outdoor Industry

My journey in crafting compelling copy began on the frontlines of the outdoor retail world. Spending years at legendary brands like REI, Icebreaker, and Pine Mountain Sports wasn't just about wrangling gear – it was about understanding the adventurer's heart.

There, I learned the secret sauce: turning customers into the heroes of their own outdoor stories.  Imagine being the friendly face at the trailhead, perfectly equipping someone for their dream adventure. That's the kind of connection I aim to build with your audience through my writing.

My retail experience grants me a deep understanding of what makes outdoor enthusiasts tick. I know the latest trends, the questions that keep them up at night (will these boots hold up?), and the power of a captivating story to spark that crucial "add to cart" feeling.

Now, I leverage that knowledge to craft copy that crackles with campfire energy.  It connects with your audience on a deeper level, transforming features into tangible benefits they can truly grasp.

MY STORY: From Wanderlust to Words

The travel bug bit me big time as a kid. By 13, I'd explored all 50 states – thanks, Mom and Dad, for fueling my wanderlust! Little did I know that traveling the country in a VW Vanagon would shape my path in surprising ways.  

Years later, I found myself guiding expeditions across the US as a tour guide for Trek America. Those journeys weren't just about sharing breathtaking landscapes—they were about crafting itineraries, connecting with people from all walks of life, and sharing the magic of exploration. This experience planted the seeds of storytelling within me, a skill that would come in handy much later.

Travel has always been more than just ticking places off a list. It's a deep dive into different cultures, a constant reminder of the world's incredible diversity, and a wellspring of empathy and curiosity. However, life isn't always sunshine and mountain views.

They say turning 40 is a time of reflection, and let's just say mine was no exception. Add a global pandemic to the mix; suddenly, everything feels up for grabs. It became a turning point, a time to question and reevaluate what truly mattered. Thankfully, the lessons from travel and being outdoors—empathy, curiosity, and a love of exploration—all pointed me in a new direction.

Fueled by this renewed sense of purpose and my lifelong love for storytelling, I took a leap of faith in 2020. I launched my freelance copywriting business, a perfect way to merge my passions for the outdoors, storytelling, and the desire to help people achieve their goals.

Now, when I'm not crafting captivating content for you, you'll likely find me exploring my current backyard – Bend, Oregon. Here, adventure takes many forms: casting a fly on the Deschutes River with my fly fishing guide hubby, Troy, plotting the next epic road trip, or simply unwinding with a local IPA with friends. Beyond the adventures, I cherish my downtime with my tuxedo cat companions, Louie and Cinder (yes, I'm a full-fledged cat lady!), curling up with a captivating mystery novel or whipping up a cheese-laden masterpiece in the kitchen.

Community and giving back are also core values. As a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon, I share adventures and build positive relationships with my Little. Through The Mayfly Project, I introduce foster kids to the joys of fly fishing, creating lasting memories, and fostering a connection with the natural world.
